Every colour has its own significance, but the real beauty lies when it unifies like a rainbow. Love is the centre of every relationship. The real beauty has its own sheen when love and unity combines, said Mata Amritanandamayi Devi at A.S. Raja College Grounds here on Wednesday.

The venue was filled to the brim with more than 20,000 devotees to get a glimpse of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. As part of the all-India tour organised by Mata Amritanandamayi Math every year to spread the message of love and compassion among the followers, Amma (as dearly called by her devotees) has reached the City of Destiny.

Referring to the recent atrocities against women, Amma at the ‘Satsang' said: "Lust, greed and ego are clouding people like cancer and ultimately leading them to commit unthinkable sins. The horrid incidents that happened in the recent past are the clear indication of degradation of value system in our society."

She said that lust, alcohol, and drug abuse apart from greed for money are the three forms of insanity that lurk among people these days. Lack of love and compassion are the reason behind barbarous acts happened. Today's need of the hour is love. Unity and equality bring beauty and harmony to one's life. "Let us not expect something which we cannot offer. In a way, we are distancing ourselves from love. The real happiness lies in sharing unconditional love and compassion. Everything will fall in place if we join together to nurture our spirit with these two divine qualities," she urged.

Amma embraced and blessed each and every devotee with her warm hug.

In a Government initiated sanitation rating of CBSE Schools all over the country, Amrita Vidyalayams have topped bagging 16 out of 100 awards. There are more than 10,200 CBSE Schools in India of which nearly 1,500 are in Kerala. In the state of Kerala, Amrita won 10 out of 19 total awards conferred in the State.

Dr. M.M. Pallam Raju, HRD Minister, gave away the Awards for 2012 to School Principals in a function held at Delhi today.

The Amrita Vidyalayams that received the National School Sanitation Awards are: Thalassery, Palakkad, Mananthavady, Pulpally, Pathanamthitta, Pandalam, Thiruvalla, Ernakulam, Ottapalam, Koilandy, Secunderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Durgapur, and Ahmedabad.

The National School Sanitation Ratings is promoted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India. These annual awards were given for those Schools who have been taken noteworthy steps towards the betterment of sanitation scenario through (i) awareness generation leading to behavioural change through students and community mobilization, (ii) technical innovation and interventions, (iii) creation & conservation of green spaces, etc.

Amma visits tsunami relief camps in Japan

Accept the situation, develop faith, move forward

Amma addressed the refugee residents( earthquake struck Japan victims), with the following words of inspiration,

"You have just been through painful experiences, and you have yet to come out of that shock. The situation is such that no words can give you peace. Amma is here just to part take in the grief that you are going through. There are certain situations in life where you cannot do anything but accept. This is one of those situations. If you ask a musician where the music is coming from, he would say ‘its from my fingers, or from my throat, or from my heart'. If you operate the finger, the throat or the heart you will not find music. Actually music is coming from beyond. We have to understand the limitations of our actions, and the place of God's Grace in our life. Keeping faith in that power, my children, pray for the Grace. Like any other decision, happiness is also a decision. Have a resolve, let any thing happen, I will be happy, I will be courageous. Without losing the self-confidence or faith in God, move forward".

Swamiji Amrita Swaroopananda Puri Visit to Hyd on 28th & 29th December-2010

Satsang & Bhajan Sandhya was organized at Bharatiya Vidyabhavan, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad on 28th Dec 2010. Around 1000 people attended the program. Mr.Chandravadhan, IAS (Secretary to Government), Mr.R.R Girishkumar, Former DGP, Mr Shyam Mohan, Chairman Intellectual Cell, AP Congress Committee were the special guests who had attended the program. Swamiji had given a discourse on the topic “Relevance of Spirituality in modern World". People from all walks of life attended the programme. Students from Business Schools, Government Officials, Devotees, Politicians, students from Medical colleges, Dignitaries from Corporate companies were the few among the audience. Swamiji’s enchanting bhajans elevated the crowd into higher realms of devotion.

On 29th Dec, the programme was organised at the Ashram premises at Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad. On this day, it was an interactive spiritual question answer session with the devotees. Swamiji explained in detail various aspects of life and also answered the different spiritual questions put forward by the devotees. Swamiji had a Bhajan session also after the Q&A session. Around 300 people attended the interactive session.

While answering a question of a devotee about forgiveness, Swamiji explained that, in fact forgiveness is not a solution but is a tool for maintaining equipoise of the mind & maintaining harmony in the World. To another question asked by a devotee about spiritual life, Swamiji explained that the spiritual practices should be continuous in ones life & should not take any break. Swamiji said just like we breath, take food, sleep in the same way the spiritual practices are also unavoidable part of daily life.

Amala Bharatam Campaign (ABC)

It is a campaign aimed at cleaning India's public places and national highways. Through this cleanliness drive, MAM hopes to raise social awareness of humanity's debt to our beautiful earth and nature. Amma launched this project on her 57th Birthday celebrations on 27th Sep 2010. Amma said that the MAM is ready to take up the responsibility of constructing toilets and installing trash cans in government schools and along roads all over India if it has the support and co-operation of state governments and other organizations.

Amma asks that all of us take a vow to clean our surroundings. Amma believes that if the people, government and other organizations work together, this sacred endeavour will certainly bear fruit.
